The African buffalo or Cape buffalo is a considered a large sub-Saharan African bovine and the largest one, the forest buffalo, can be found in Eastern and Southern Africa.
This notoriously dangerous beast kills over 200 people annually and has been reported to have killed more people than any other animal on the continent. It is also known as the “Black Death” or “widow maker” and it’s one of the Big Five that you’d be able to see during an African safari.
