This may look gross and unappetizing to most westerners but we were pleasantly surprised by how tasty these fried tarantulas were in Cambodia. They taste a lot like chicken and are doused in garlic. Many believe Cambodians started eating these spiders out of desperation during the mass genocide and oppression of the Khmer Rouge when food was sparse. Today it has evolved into an everyday snack for many locals and tourists daring enough to give it a try.
