The Zambezi (also spelled Zambeze or Zambesi) is the longest east-flowing river in Africa that flows into the Indian Ocean from the continent. The 1,599 mile long river passes through Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Botswana and also along the borders of Zimbabwe and Mozambique before it flows into the Indian Ocean.
This notable river is also connected to some of Africa’s famous waterfalls like Victoria Falls, Chayuma Falls, and Ngonye Falls. It’s no surprise that the river is a source of hydroelectric power which provides power to Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and South Africa.
