The famous entryway to the ancient city of Nabatean in Petra is marked by a structure called The Siq or Siqit. It is a gorge about 3 meters wide and about 0.75 miles long that ends in Al Khazneh or The Treasury. Unlike most gorges or canyons, The Siq is formed from a natural geological fault split apart by tectonic forces which was smoothed by water during later years.
