A notable characteristic of the proboscis monkey is their fleshy pendulous noses, used to attract mates. These noses create an echo chamber that amplifies their call and intimidates rival males while attracting females at the same time (talk about multi-tasking!).
Proboscis monkeys are only found in the jungles of Borneo and do not stray very far from the rivers, swamps, and coastal mangroves. Unfortunately, their existence is being threatened by changes to their habitat caused by illegal logging, causing them to travel further inland for food where predators like jaguars and humans reside.
