The Singapore Zoo, formerly known as the Mandai Zoo or Singapore Zoological Garden, first opened on June 27, 1973 with just 272 animals. Since then, it has grown into a haven for wildlife with over 2,800 animals spanning 300 species, many of which are endangered like the orange utan, Malayan tapir, and manatee.

The Singapore Zoo has been consistently ranked Asia’s top zoo and has been in the top 10 of the world’s best zoos! This is why the renowned zoo attracts overs 2 million visitors annually.

The night safari was the first of its kind when it opened in 1994. The planning and construction took 7 years and cost a total of $63 million! It was the first ever nocturnal zoo which allowed you to see these magnificent nocturnal creatures at night.
