Balea Waterfall in the Alps of Transylvania is also known as the Cascada Balea; it is located in the Fagaras Mountains in Romania. The highest step-waterfall has an altitude of 1,234 meters and a height of 60 meters. It is accessible via the Transfagarasan Highway. The Transfagarasan Highway is a famous road built during the 1970s by military forces and crosses the mountains from Transylvania to Muntenia. It has a number of tunnels and viaducts. Important events have been hosted on this famous road like the Sibiu Rally and the Dracula Bike Fest.
