We all know that leopards are elusive but what else do you know about these incredible creatures?
They can be found mostly in China, India, Central Asia, Northeast Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The Sub-Saharan African Leopard is perhaps the most iconic of them all and we took this photograph on our Zambia Luxury Safari back in 2015. They are quite solitary and being nocturnal, leopards prefer to rest up in the trees and in thick bushes during the day (like this one). The strongest of all the big cats, they can haul a 300-pound antelope up a 60 ft tree with ease! We’ve been super lucky to see this with our own eyes on one of our travel club’s small group safaris and can’t wait to go back so more members can witness this legendary creature.
