The M/V Ortelius is the best ship for traveling to Antarctica or the Arctic. The tough and strengthened hull of the M/V Ortelius ensures that you are in the safest possible boat to transit through the most extreme climates and environment on the planet like Greenland, the Ross Sea in Antarctica, Tthe Franz Josef Land in the Russian Arctic, and the remote Svalbard islands.
It was built in Gdynia, Poland in 1989 and was initially named Marina Svetaeva; it was used by the Russian Academy of Science for research until it was renamed M/V Ortelius. Like our other cruise ships, she also provides comfortable hotel quarters, two restaurants, a bar, lecture room, and even a sauna!
The ship is able to carry 116 passengers and offers a lot of open deck spaces for viewing. It is manned by highly experience nautical crew, highly experienced hotel crew along with 7-8 expedition personnel/lecturers and a doctor.
Try the M/V Ortelius for yourself and sign up for our Antarctica adventure this November!
