This is the Indian ring-necked parakeet. It can be found mostly in India and Pakistan and is a subspecies of the rose-ringed parakeet. They are notorious for being hard to train but is not often the case. They are is considered to be the “best” and “smartest” among the domesticated talking birds since they often start speaking between 8 months to 1 year old and can learn over 200 words. They can be destructive when bored and are not known to be affectionate.
They are also regarded as sacred in India when local religious leaders found they can mimic our language.
