Travel Photo of the Day: Trippy Hundertwasser House in Vienna!

unique buildings
The Hundertwasser House in Vienna is famous for its trippy design and colors

Modern art and architecture is not necessarily the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Vienna but the Hundertwasserhaus is one big exception. Our travel club got some great photos of this unique building. The house is made up primarily of apartments with a number of private and public terraces throughout. Grass covers the roof and there are 250 trees and bushes throughout the property. Friedensreich Hundertwasser was the man behind this architectural masterpiece and is now world famous for his unique structures throughout Austria and the world. He pioneered the concept of forested roofs like on the Hundertwasserhaus.

Our group trip to Eastern Europe was filled with so much history and culture but this stop was a nice change of scenery and great for some unique photography.

Love the quirky Hundertwasser and his buildings. He also designed a fabulous public toilet in Kawakawa on New Zealand. Very cool.

Yeah I've heard about that one. We missed it last time we went to NZ so will have to check it out next time!
