Antarctic Hike

A definite trip of a lifetime, a trip to Antarctica or Arctic won’t be complete without the hike. It can be scary and overwhelming to think about since there are no set paths to hike on and you will be on fairly rugged terrain with slopes.

Most expeditions can cater to different hiking skills of their guests but you still need to be in reasonably good shape and health.  These hikes usually last two hours to six hours depending on the difficulty level.

In Antarctica, the longest hike takes about three hours but on the Arctic, the longest hike can take a full day. All hikes are supervised and led by fully certified, qualified and experienced expedition guides.

However, hikes in the Arctics can be pretty scary because guides and hikes must keep a vigilant lookout for polar bears. This is why guides in the arctic may carry rifles during some hikes.

Hikes in the Antarctic region can be limited due its natural terrain.
