Did you know that due to Iceland’s high volcanic activity, it is home to some of the world’s best geysers?! In fact, the first known geyser was found in Iceland! Because these natural wonders have been around for lifetimes, some of them can be timed down to the minute for an explosion of boiling hot water. Many visitors like to get close but watch out – the spray and the steam can easily be picked up by the wind sending people in all directions away from the moisture.
The famous and most visited geyser in Iceland is Strokkur which is part of the Golden Circle (along with Gullfoss Waterfall and Þingvellir National Park) route.
