Eastern Europe group tour

Another exciting new adventure announcement this week: The Jewels of Eastern Europe: Poland, Czech Republic, & Hungary! It’s been a couple years since we’ve been to these great countries and it’s time to go back! With unique cultures, delicious food, stunning architecture, and breathtaking natural beauty, this trip offers so much at an incredible value! We are hopeful the 2021 summer dates will be good timing with the pandemic on the decline and more treatments & vaccines available, making it significantly more safe and manageable to travel.

For those who are ready to get back on the wanderlust route sooner, our Colorful Cuba experience is almost sold out and the country continues to show very low COVID-19 transmission and much lower trends than the US & many areas of the world.

And, our first adventure back to the Big Island in 2 years is proving to be a hit (as always). Since we can only take 10-12 members on this trip it’s already half full. Get your deposit in before it’s too late!

Czech Republic: 4 nights

Cesky Krumlov

One of the country’s most vibrant cultural centers, with more than one thousand years of history, Krakow is undoubtedly the spiritual heart of Poland. “If you believe the legends, Kraków was founded on the defeat of a dragon, and it’s true a mythical atmosphere permeates its attractive streets and squares.” -Lonely Planet

– Sloupsko-Šošůvské Caves: En route to Cesky, we’ll make a must stop at this mind-boggling wonder of nature. These are the largest accessible caves in the Czech Republic with an extensive complex of caverns, corridors, and chasms. An exciting guided adventure into the abyss will be a real highlight during our time in this remarkable country.
– Privately guided city tour throughout Cesky Krumlov
– Chateau Cesky Krumlov: This 13th-century gothic castle stands proud overlooking the quaint historical epicenter of Moravia. A delight for our eyes and camera’s inside & out; lavish interiors, fascinating history, gorgeous castle gardens, and architecture that brings us back in time!

Kutna Hora

“Enriched by the silver ore that veined the surrounding hills, the medieval city of Kutná Hora became the seat of Wenceslas II’s royal mint in 1308, producing silver groschen that were then the hard currency of Central Europe. Boom-time Kutná Hora rivaled Prague in importance, but by the 16th century the mines began to run dry, and its demise was hastened by the Thirty Years’ War and a devastating fire in 1770. The town became a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1996, luring visitors with a smorgasbord of historic sights. It looks it’s flower-bedecked best in May and June but is worth a full day’s visit at any time of year.” – Lonely Planet
– Privately guided city tour throughout Kutna Hora: Highlights include the Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbara, Assumption of Our Lady and St John the Baptist Cathedral, and the Little All Saints Church situated in the middle of a picturesque cemetery, famous for its elaborate ossuary decorated with the skulls of former monks!

Travel Club Update: COVID-19

PhotoFly Travel Club takes our current global pandemic extremely seriously. As such, a number of our 2020 adventures have had to be cancelled & postponed like most in our travel industry. We want nothing more than all of our members to stay healthy & happy during these trying times. We hope everyone is playing their part by social distancing as much as possible. The more people who properly follow this crucial tactic in our country, and everyone around the world, the faster we will conquer and come out stronger & better prepared when this happens again.

As of today, September 29th, we remain hopeful that travel will become feasible and safe again for most travelers early next year. In fact many countries, including most of Europe, have been on the decline for months now.  It’s important to acknowledge that these are mainly countries that have enacted strict social distancing measures much sooner and in a more timely manner than the USA has been able to. Good news is most of the countries on our upcoming calendar fit this description! For more details about the predictions and scientific modeling in each state AND many countries around the world go here: https://covid19.healthdata.org/ (you can select any state or country for the location specific predictions)

Enhanced Procedures & Safety Measures

As we get ready to explore the world with you again soon, our travel club has begun to implement new guidelines and practices for the “Post-Covid World”. Some of them are listed below. Safety is #1 and the ability to experience a destination without limitations due to the pandemic is #2

1. Country Specific Qualifications must be met to run the tour. Some of these include:
a. Daily infection incidence must show stable or decreasing trends for at least 30 days
b. Population Infected must be equal to or lower than .007% per 100K people
c. Hospital resources in country must be sufficient for predicted modeling at least 3 months after the start date of said trip.
3. PhotoFly Enhanced Safety Practices Including:
a. Masks for everyone in vehicles and other enclosed spaces
b. Sanitizer available at all times/ Surface Cleanings done constantly
c. Social distancing practices as much as possible & no contact health/temperature checks
d. Small Groups Only = Lower Risk. Only time will tell and we’re following the situation very carefully. Our pledge is to share nothing but scientific evidence and advice given by the CDC and World Health Organization (WHO). We will base our decisions in the coming months solely on these two sources.

We know this is going to be a difficult time for all of us, in a myriad of ways. PhotoFly Travel Club is committed to building amazing experiences for years to come. We will get through this together and come out on the other side with even more amazing trips.

We wish everyone nothing but the best navigating this crisis. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all to remain healthy and persevere until we overcome.

Much love and gratitude to all of our members,

Steve, Andrew, Catalin, Michelle, Raya, & the rest of our PhotoFly Team!

We’re beyond excited to announce our new partnership with the extremely successful non-profit, Not Just Tourist. For 25 years their “mission is to help those who urgently need healthcare by matching tourists who are visiting developing countries with local clinics and hospitals in need of medical supplies. Not Just Tourists is the meeting point for travelers and donors. We provide the facilities and connections for hospitals, clinics, and medical suppliers to donate materials, and then we pack them into suitcases for world travelers to bring them where they’re needed most in the countries they’re already visiting anyway!”

On many PhotoFly Adventures going forward we’ll be working with NJT to bring suitcases filled with medical supplies to clinics and hospitals in the same regions we’ll already be exploring!
