Travel Gear: Lowepro Camera Backpack Review

Lowepro logoOur photography travel club was in search of a new camera backpack a few months ago and Lowepro came to the rescue. They were generous enough to let us try out their awesome Fastback 350 camera backpack and we love it! Below is our camera backpack review after using it on our latest group tours to Hawaii & Mexico.

Lots of Room:

The Lowepro Fastpack 350 is perfect for travel & photography lovers who have a DSLR with 3-4 lenses, a laptoplowepro camera backpack review (up to 17 in.),  chargers, cables, batteries & other accessories to boot. The bag is designed to store the camera & lenses in the padded bottom compartment with more than enough room for a body & multiple lenses including a telephoto. The camera & lens compartment has a high quality zipper that’s designed to allow access from the side without taking the backpack all the way off.  This is perfect for adventure activities such as long hikes where carrying the camera on your shoulders the whole way can be tiring and burdensome. The quick and easy access is perfect for capturing landscape & nature shots on the fly only when needed.

side camera access backpacksThe top compartment of the Fastpack 350 has plenty of space for all your camera accessories in addition to a few days worth of clothes for a trip. We love fitting the clothes in this space to carry on the plane in case the checked bag gets lost or delayed on arrival. Two zipped pouches at the bottom and top of the bag offer more storage for travel documents, memory cards & other small items. An adjustable mesh pocket on the side has plenty of room for two water bottles. An additional compartment is found in the back of the pack with plenty of padding and room for up to a 17 inch laptop.

Super comfortable:

Lowepro padded backpacksThe padded shoulder straps and back make walking and hiking with this camera bag more comfortable than any other we’ve used so far. The adjustable shoulder straps come with chest and waist buckles for added support when carrying a full load. We really like this feature when walking through the airport, cities, and on our hiking excursions because it takes lots of weight off your shoulders which get sore and tired quickly from other camera packs that lack this excellent design and functionality.

Security:

Our travel club received the all black version of the Fastpack 350 which looks like any other regular backpack.  It doesn’t stick out when traveling abroad which helps keep you under the radar in areas with theft and pickpockets. This was an important quality we wanted since our club goes to so many off the path destinations where obvious camera bags can make our group an easy target. The bottom camera compartment also has a security flap with buckles that make access to the camera and lenses impossible when fastened.

Lowepro Camera Backpack Giveaway:

We’ll be setting up a contest and giveaway for this awesome camera backpack in the next week so keep your eyes peeled! The winner will receive a brand new Fastpack 350 for all their future photography adventures!

I have this backpack and I love it. Sometimes I travel for work, so it helps that is has a massive laptop compartment so I can take my work laptop and take a few pictures in the evening. My only complaint is that it doesn't have any tripod straps, but I got over it.

Totally agree DJ. I do wish there was a tripod strap BUT I hate lugging it around on trips anyway so it's not too big of a deal...
